Dr. Tara Laughlin spent the first decade of her career as a teacher, working at both the elementary and secondary levels, with an emphasis on teaching literacy. As a classroom teacher, one of Tara’s biggest passions was building relationships with students and helping them develop the skills needed to be successful in college, career, and life. Tara holds an M.Ed. in Divergent Learning and an Ed.D. in Curriculum, Innovation, and Educational Reform. To earn this degree, she spent 18 months engaged in research on the systematic integration of social and emotional learning into the content area classroom. This passion led to her current role as Director of Curriculum & Education Training for PAIRIN, where she focuses on student skill-building, leveraging her expertise to develop skills curricula for students and adults, as well as helping develop educators’ capacity to teach and assess these important skills.
The research-based framework taught in this course was developed by Tara, so you will be able to hear the details directly from its original researcher and designer!
