New Colorado Program Offers Full-Service IT Sourcing Solution to Companies and Creates Opportunities for Individuals from Non-Traditional Backgrounds
Denver, CO – <February 20, 2019> – Today marks the launch of a unique program that delivers highly curated candidates from diverse backgrounds into tech careers, addressing some of the most urgent tech hiring needs. The program, called getIT, is facilitated through a consortium of workforce and college programs in Colorado and focuses on filling high-demand, entry level tech roles, such as help desk and customer service positions. The partnership includes the Community College of Aurora, Activate Workforce Solutions, Cross Purpose, Denver Workforce Services and its Opportunity Youth Initiative, Goodwill and PAIRIN.
According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there are currently 800,000 help desk tech jobs in the U.S., and it is estimated that another 88,000 will be added in the next 10 years. This program will help companies fill these immediate needs by providing candidates ready for entry-level roles that can be groomed and developed to address needs in more advanced tech positions over time, such as programming, network administration and security roles. The program focuses on training and developing individuals from diverse, non-traditional backgrounds who are committed to the tech industry and seeking opportunities for meaningful career placements. Both career seekers and companies benefit through a shared commitment to advancing the tech workforce.
“By providing highly curated candidates who are tech career committed and industry certified, companies benefit from time savings in the hiring process as well as higher retention rates from loyal, engaged employees,” said Janel Highfill, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Resource Development at Community College of Aurora.
“We applaud getIT for this innovative partnership, which will provide education and training for Colorado students who aspire to careers in the tech industry,” said Liz Rolander, Vice President of People & Culture at Zayo. “The program offers an accessible, affordable option for young people and addresses a key gap in the talent pipeline,” Liz added.
The new getIT Accelerated Tech Training Program is available to all Denver metro area companies. Contact Jessica Cassarino at 303.340.7215 or Jessica.firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more and start hiring for your entry level tech jobs.
